Just found a very nice website/blog on the web. www.ukstreetart.co.uk features a lot of gallery related stuff, events and ,as a unique little gem, a couple of exclusive interviews with the big names of the scene. They also got the stencil-godfather himself, Xavier Prou aka Blek le rat. Guys, you’re definitely in my feed-favs. Keep it real.
..::UPDATE: free 4 wall part III::..
August 16, 2008
On thursday thebricklanegallery did the opening show of the third part of the free4wall series. Met Brice and AirborneMark again. Had a good chat - and a look around. Some of the artwork was outstanding, as eg the work by DanK, some of the stuff on the walls I just didn’t get the idea behind maybe. Looked like child’s work to me - pretty expensive child’s work though. Anyway, must be art. Sometimes I don’t get that street art hype…However, have a look at the brilliant stuff:

I now have managed to get a bit more info on that canvas by GENTRY. The guy got a website. He has a couple of other pieces for sale on his website as well. No price though, but there are contact details, so have a go. The fade of the colours is ace…like my canvas.

EDIT: Nick has got prices online now. Check it out!

Last month I was asked to do some PhD graduation pics at Queen Mary, University of London - just the usual portrait stuff. Unfortunately there was hardly blue sky and we got a bit of rain as well. However, I had my nice little 150cm reflector in my trousers pocket, so that I gave a s*** on the weather…

Been at the “Big Issue” show at the Black Rat Press - and guess what - near the nice “SCARY” piece by EINE, there was a litte gem waiting for me. The 8th out of 15 to be precise. Have a look at the pic - all it says on one corner of the canvas “Gentry 2008 8/15″. Thanks Gentry!

…for everybody who wants to see the original “designated graffiti area” banksy piece (behind very stylish plexiglas though) go to Cargo at Shoreditch. Actually 2 are there. You can also have a look at a couple of Obey’s stuff and a piece by inky…

..::Xavier Prou @ Tate Modern::..
August 2, 2008
Monsieur Prou - aka Blek le Rat - has been giving a presentation on his work yesterday at Tate Modern. Rough, one of the biggest UK graff-artists, has been featuring his work as well. Both talks very impressive. Blek is just an amazingly friendly person. Of course I have got a signed copy of his latest book now…
…photos are still on that little memory card…
Edit:

…Rough infront of his apple notebook - love the colours…

Great show yesterday. When I arrived at 6pm (official opening time) some of the stuff already had been sold - good start though. There has been a massive amount of art on the walls, pretty diverse artists - Big up to everybody donating. Hope everything was sold when they closed. Had a good laugh with copyright, Emodern, Eddiedangerous and howaboutno and a couple of drinks obviously. Unfortunately the “auction” was more a “put your name&bid on the paper”-thing, so there was no head-to-head race kind of auction - if you wanted the piece, you just waited till the end (or what hopefully did not happend, cross out your rivals). Anyway, good fun.

Not only Gordon and Ken are fighting violence in Britain. I now found a fairly new piece around Shoreditch by an artist, signing with a gothic-font-like lettered “K”. Nice work, dude. (Tek 13 stencil on the left as well).
